SUMMARY:World Prematurity Day
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nWhat is World Prematurity Day? ( https://www.bliss.org.uk/support-bliss/world-prematurity-day/what-is-world-prematurity-day )\nWorld Prematurity Day (17 November 2021) is a global movement to raise awareness of premature birth and the sometimes devastating impact it can have on families.\nOn this day Bliss comes together with partners from around the world to talk about premature birth in our countries and to raise awareness about the hurdles babies and parents face, and overcome, every single day.\n\n\nIn the UK\nFor every 13 babies born in the UK, one baby is born premature. Each neonatal experience will affect families differently, but we know how important it is to feel connected with people who have a similar journey.\nThere are many parts of neonatal care that can go unspoken; from the overwhelming sounds of the unit to discovering how strong your baby is for the first time. It can make a big difference to read other people’s stories.\nThat’s why we’re asking parents, family members, friends and healthcare professionals – anyone touched by the needs of premature babies – to share your #MyNeonatalStory and show families in neonatal care they’re not alone.\n\n\nWorld Prematurity Day Internationally\nSadly, prematurity is the leading cause of death in children under five.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n15 million\nbabies are born prematurely every year\n\n\nOne million\nof these babies will not survive\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nWorld Prematurity Day is an opportunity to raise awareness of premature birth and work with partners around the world to prevent it.\nBliss is a member of the World Prematurity Network (WPN), whose members include March of Dimes, EFCNI, LittlebigSouls International Foundation, National Premmie Foundation, Borngreat Foundation, Con Amor Venceras, and the Canadian Premature Babies Foundation.\n\n\n\n\n
