July 2025 – EMIS Newsletter

A message from our founder

Hello!

Welcome to the July newsletter full of updates and resources to help your practices/PCNs/federations/ICBs with achieving their aims.

We’ve had a busy month at PCIT, attending conferences and meeting lots of you. Whilst we’re covering newly released resources and updates, we feel it’s important to let you know we’re working on this year’s flu searches and will share more information on this in the near future. We’ll be in touch again as soon as these are released.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Best wishes
Dustyn (Founder)

PCIT Update

📢 Upcoming Folder Name Change in EMIS Web

To support smoother updates, we’ll be renaming the Primary Care IT search folder in EMIS Web to “! Primary Care IT“. This will move the folder to the top of the list, making updates more efficient for our team.

Please do not rename this or any other Primary Care IT folders or resources — doing so may stop tools from working correctly and is not permitted under your agreement.

If you have any concerns, please raise a ticket or speak to your CRM. This change will take place towards the end of July.

New Resource Releases

🔍036 Continuity of Care (Foundry) Searches

The Continuity of Care (Foundry) searches are designed to support practices using the Foundry RAG system to implement continuity of care. This may also support continuity of care improvement work being done as a PCN in line with the Network DES 2025/26.

🧪 HP386 – Cholesterol Exception Checker

Checks for outstanding QOF indicators relating to cholesterol and statin prescribing: CHOL003, CHOL004, DM034, DM035.
On opening a patient record, the protocol identifies any gaps in lipid management, displays recent cholesterol levels and prescribed meds and flags whether treatment needs intensifying or a personalised care adjustment (PCA) should be applied.

📜 HP387 – High BP Checker

Monitors each BP entry to check if QOF blood pressure targets are being met for: Hypertension, Coronary Heart Disease, Stroke and Diabetes.

Prompts users to review recent BP readings for potential white coat hypertension or home readings, arrange appropriate follow-up if BP is elevated, record maximal tolerated therapy where needed and apply Personalised Care Adjustments (PCAs) and task a clinician for further advice if required.

🧩 HP407 – Needs Statin and Previous Lipid Exceptions

This protocol ensures practices have visibility of previously recorded personalised care adjustments related to lipid indicators and flags past exceptions so they can be reviewed and considered again if appropriate.

What does it do?
On opening a patient record checks to see if the patient has outstanding requirements for any lipid management indicator for QOF. If there are outstanding requirements the patient is checked to see if there are any previous personalised care adjustments. If there are, an alert shows to inform the user of what these were and when they were entered.

📋 HP406 – Cholesterol Prompt

We’re excited to introduce the Cholesterol Prompt, a new optional protocol in the PCIT toolset that supports practices in achieving cholesterol-related QOF indicators.

Included QOF indicators:
CHOL003: On lipid-lowering therapy
CHOL004: LDL ≤ 2.0
DM034: Diabetics (no CVD/frailty) on therapy
DM035: Diabetics (with CVD) on therapy

What it does:
Automatically runs on record open
Identifies any outstanding QOF actions
Displays latest lipid results + prescribed meds
Prompts next steps: Intensify or apply PCA

This is part of our Optional Handy Protocols and can be requested via a support ticket below.

It’s important to note we go into practice systems and update these as frequently as possible. For further information on our searches, click here
See our guide to know the latest changes to our searches here.

Queries about CQC Navigator?
CQC inspection teams use a set of searches which have been designed to help them to understand how a Practice manages their patient population, and to identify clinical situations which should not be happening. To support with this,
Primary Care IT has adapted these searches to help practices understand what might need to be addressed before
 a CQC inspector finds it.

We recommend checking our CQC Navigator FAQ guide here. If you have any questions after reading the article, please raise a ticket with us for support.

How do I raise a support ticket?
If you ever need to contact us for support, the best way to reach us is by creating a support ticket, you can do this here. These tickets are triaged internally and passed to the relevant member of our team to ensure your request or question is answered to the best of our ability. You can always chase the progress of your support tickets by calling our office (0333 344 3678) and providing your ticket reference number.
