PCIT Updates

🤝 Best Practice Conference 2025

Our team is now back from two full-on days at this year’s Best Practice show, held at the NEC, Birmingham. Thank you to everyone who came by the stand to talk to us about Primary Care IT. It was great to speak with so many customers and new practices keen to come onboard with us soon. The feedback from customers was so positive and reinforces the need to provide system optimisation.

🙏🏻 A big thank you also to our neighbouring stands, X-on Health, GPnav and Redmoor Health for being so friendly and chatty with us! It’s great to be able to network with organisations all helping GP practices across the country.

If we weren’t able to speak to you this year, we look forward to hopefully speaking with you at a conference in 2026!

🚨 Don’t forget that QRISK 3 is available for PCIT customers* to be able to use within EMIS Web!

This year we released our calculator which means clinicians will be able to calculate a QRISK3 score within a clinical system with the result being recorded directly in the record.

This functionality has been built into:
🔵 OneCalculator
🔵 Lipid checking protocol (HP015)
🔵 OneTemplate NonPrescriber in the NHS Health Check page (for those eligible)

Primary Care IT would like to again thank Dr David Stables for input during our development of this important tool.

⚙️ Optional Handy Protocol Change (Reminder)

We have made a change to the way we offer our Handy Protocols to practices. Sites can now access the full list of optional HPs by going to Resource Publisher > Shared Folders > Primary Care IT Limited > (3A) Published Global Resources > Handy Protocols > Optional and choose which ones they want to move from inactive to active (therefore setting them as a live resource). Our Handy Protocols come with pre-set triggers but you can adjust locally as required.

Resource Releases & Updates

📰 Seasonal Influenza – Key Highlights 📰

001 CQRS: Seasonal Influenza (v6) and CQRS: Childhood Seasonal Influenza (v6)
CQRS influenza searches have been updated to show dates for the 2025/26 season and also now exclude patients with the GMS:false flag. This has been added to remove any patients who have been vaccinated by another location but where the codes of given by pharmacist or midwife were not appropriate and is in line with the information extracted via GPES for CQRS.
As a reminder, our support articles for the CQRS search folders do include details of what is included for each of the CQRS indicators along with tips for using our Missed Activity searches to identify potential missed income so check out:

📚 For further details, please see our support guides:
CQRS: Seasonal Influenza searches and CQRS: Childhood Seasonal Influenza searches

016 Seasonal Influenza (v6.2)
D) Seasonal Influenza ACTIVITY is designed to help with claims related to FP34D as well as providing a breakdown of activity across the flu season. This year there have been a number of queries related to ensuring that practices avoid claiming for flu vaccinations that have not been given in practice. We have therefore added some extra information to our “Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Monthly Breakdown Summary Report” to help practices separate out vaccines given by other providers and claim for the correct vaccine numbers for each month.

This report will now show manufacturer and batch number information as well as the GMS flag. Vaccines given by the practice should be identifiable from the batch number information but should also have a GMS flag of true to distinguish them from vaccines given by non-GMS providers.

📚 For further details, please see our support guide: 016 Seasonal Influenza searches

Coding seasonal influenza vaccination given by another provider
In previous years there was an option to code vaccinations as ‘given by other healthcare provider” however these SNOMED codes have been retired over the last few months so this is no longer an option.

The following codes can still be used and are recommended where appropriate:

🔵 Seasonal influenza vaccination given by pharmacist
🔵 Seasonal influenza vaccination given in school
🔵 Seasonal influenza vaccination given by midwife

If the flu vaccination has been given by another provider who is not covered by one of the above codes (eg workplace vaccination by a doctor or nurse) then we would advise using the standard flu vaccination code “administration of first inactivated seasonal influenza vaccination” but with the GMS flag set to ‘not GMS’. This will avoid the patient being picked up in CQRS searches and these vaccinations will show separately on the 016D Monthly Breakdown Summary Report

Please note: Flu vaccinations given collaboratively as a PCN may require local adjustments to reporting to ensure vaccine administration and reimbursement claims are not duplicated.

💉 015 Childhood Vaccinations

015C HPV Catch Up searches are being updated in the latest deployment to v1.1

This update has been designed to make the searches easier to understand and make it clearer which patients are eligible for recall for the GP catch-up campaign. All searches now have new definitions that line up with current schedule recommendations and clarify who is eligible.

📚 For further details, please see our support guide below.

🔍  October Search Rollout Summary

This month we’re rolling out changes to 4 of our folders, those folders are as follows:

🔵 015 Child Vaccinations

FAQs, Training & more

Wanting to use our searches?
We have a full suite of searches available for practice use. You can find your current searches readily installed in your system by going to Population Reporting & opening the “Primary Care IT” folder.

It’s important to note we go into practice systems and update these as frequently as possible. For further information on our searches, click here. See our guide to know the latest changes to our searches here.

Queries about CQC Navigator?
CQC inspection teams use a set of searches which have been designed to help them to understand how a Practice manages their patient population, and to identify clinical situations which should not be happening. To support with this,
Primary Care IT has adapted these searches to help practices understand what might need to be addressed before
 a CQC inspector finds it.

We recommend checking our CQC Navigator FAQ guide here. If you have any questions after reading the article, please raise a ticket with us for support.

How do I raise a support ticket?
If you ever need to contact us for support, the best way to reach us is by creating a support ticket, you can do this here. These tickets are triaged internally and passed to the relevant member of our team to ensure your request or question is answered to the best of our ability. You can always chase the progress of your support tickets by calling our office (0333 344 3678) and providing your ticket reference number.
