In this newsletter, we’re highlighting several key updates. This includes the release of our new Smarter Diary Recall system (launch webinar below)Additionally, we have a full calendar of training sessions to ensure your team is well-equipped to maximise our tools. Don’t miss out on our sessions specifically tailored for different roles within your practice.

PCIT Updates
🚨 Don’t forget that QRISK 3 is available for PCIT customers* to be able to use within EMIS Web!
Earlier this year we released our calculator which means clinicians will be able to calculate a QRISK3 score within a foundation clinical system with the result being recorded directly in the patient’s record.
This functionality has been built into:
🔵 OneCalculator
🔵 Lipid checking protocol (HP015)
🔵 OneTemplate NonPrescriber in the NHS Health Check page (for those eligible)

📋 COPD Register Glitch: Why Extra Patients Are Being Flagged
Since July 2025, GP practices have begun to notice patients being invited for COPD reviews, even though they don’t have the condition. This happened after a national update to the code sets used by clinical systems that added patients to the COPD register.
Affected codes are in the process of being removed from code sets, but in the short term this issue could affect flu and pneumococcal recalls, as well as practice registers being used for disease recall.
The good news is that Primary Care IT has created free reports for EMIS Web and TPP so practices can easily spot which patients are affected and avoid unnecessary reviews.

⚙️ Optional Handy Protocol Change
We have made a change to the way we offer our Handy Protocols to practices. Sites can now access the full list of optional HPs by going to Resource Publisher > Shared Folders > Primary Care IT Limited > (3A) Published Global Resources > Handy Protocols > Optional and choose which ones they want to move from inactive to active (therefore setting them as a live resource). Our Handy Protocols come with pre-set triggers but you can adjust locally as required.

📕 Our NEW Smarter Diary Recall/Management System
Our new Diary Entry Recall System is an additional element of recall functionality that is optional for PCIT subscribers. To have the resources required to use this within your system, you will need to ask the authorised team member to request this by submitting a ticket.
The Diary Entry Recall System can be either added to the main OneRecall searches so patients are automatically pulled into the monthly searches (see support article for details on how to do this) or run on its own without using OneRecall at all.

💉 Seasonal Influenza Protocol
Following on from previous years we have produced an updated single flu administration protocol for the 2025’s seasonal influenza season (HP248).
Our protocol has been built as a one-stop resource to manage flu administration for all age groups, which is to be launched from F12. This is an Optional Handy Protocol so will need to be requested for manual installation via a ticket.

🧑🧒🧒 HP011 Safeguarding Information
Our Safeguarding Information Handy Protocol (HP011) has now been updated to include a template with some useful codes which will open when you double click the alert on an adult patient’s record. This updated version is now live within EMIS Web.

Following the initial release of our PSDs, we have received lots of requests for additional ones to be added, these have all been added and can be found via the OneLauncher NonPrescriber.

🔎 Combination Flu and Covid Clinic Searches 2025/26
Now that more practices are co-administering covid and flu outside of PCN hubs, PCIT have recently had requests for recall searches that identify patients eligible for both covid and flu vaccinations and those who are only eligible for flu vaccinations. Building these as separate searches would currently involve making significant changes to existing searches and search folders and PCIT are aware that making these types of changes once practices have already started the recall process could cause a lot of confusion at a very busy time.
For autumn 2025/26 PCIT have therefore created the following recommendation for how to use our existing searches to identify patients eligible for both vaccinations or only eligible for flu vaccination. Please note that due to changes in the recommend cohorts for covid autumn boosters this year and changes in the flu vaccines recommended for first line delivery, there are no cohorts listed in the Green Book that are eligible for a covid booster, who are not also eligible for the seasonal influenza vaccination.
📚 PCIT recommend the following process outlined in the below support guide if you wish to avoid sending separate covid and flu invitations.
