#60 PCIT Gems: Cholesterol Achievement l GP Contract Update Webinar

Hint for cholesterol achievement this year

This QOF year you have a broader range of options for managing patients with raised cholesterol. CHOL002 last year did not have these options, and patients could only be removed if they declined a blood test. This contract year, the rule has been rewritten to more closely align with NICE guidelines on lipid management and has been renamed CHOL004

This comes with a number of new exclusions:

  • Patients who have maximum tolerated cholesterol lowering therapy in the QOF year
  • Patients for whom the cholesterol quality indicator care was unsuitable in the QOF year
  • Patients who have chosen not to have a cholesterol test in the QOF year
  • Patients who have chosen not to receive cholesterol quality indicator care in the QOF year
  • The patient has been invited twice for review and no subsequent cholesterol reading
  • Had a raised cholesterol reading in the QOF year followed by two invites and no subsequent repeat raised cholesterol

Practices may wish to consider how they want to approach this early in the QOF year and make plans accordingly.
